Juggalos Listed as a Gang in Virginia Gang Enforcement Operation

In a recent article from Richmond.com, author Mark Bowes details a gang enforcement operation that happened over the course of a week in the Richmond and Tri-Cities area.  They say that the goal was to take gang members off the street that had warrants.

This wasn’t your local PD either.  An officer named Kevin Connolly who is with the U.S. Marshals was interviewed about the success of the operation which led to 90 arrests.

Before getting into specifics about individual arrests, the article states:

About 80 officers in five teams fanned out across the region May 20-24 and arrested wanted criminals, about half of whom were members or suspected members of such gangs as the Bloods, Crips, Gangster Disciples, Pagans, Hells Angels, Aryan Brotherhood, Ward Boyz, Willow Boyz, Stain Gang, Chippenham Money Makers, Juggalos and 5th Ward Gang, Connolly said.

Maybe he didn’t get the memo that Juggalos aren’t a gang?  Don’t get me wrong…Juggalo or not, I’m all for getting people off the street that have violent offenses on their records that they haven’t served time for.   It still shocks and saddens me to see Juggalos on a list next to some of the most well-known and notorious street gangs.

What are your thoughts on this? Was this just a misinformed U.S. Marshall?  Or are Juggalos still subject to discrimination based on their clothes, tattoos, and stickers on their vehicles?
