Former Mushroomhead Vocalist Waylon Reavis Diagnosed With Colon Cancer

Some pretty stale news emerged during the Headbangers Con livestream over the weekend. Former Mushroomhead vocalist Waylon Reavis revealed that he was diagnosed with colon cancer two months ago, and has been battling since. In the interview, he stated:

My father passed away from this at 58 years old, and my mother passed at 39 from breast cancer. I was just waiting for my time. Luckily they caught it early and they were able to cut it all out. I have had four removed, but they keep growing fast. I have changed my entire diet, thanks to my wife and taking medications. I may have to battle this for the rest of my life, but I am going to live my life happy and fight.

Waylon also touched upon topics such as his departure from Mushroomhead and his four years of sobriety. In addition, earlier today, Waylon posted a live video on his official Facebook page. He reassured fans of his condition and expanded on his overall outlook. You can see the 11-minute video by clicking here and viewing his latest update.

Waylon’s newest band is called A Killer’s Confession and they are planning to release a cover of the A Perfect Circle song “Gravity” on Friday via their official YouTube channel. Former Mushroomhead guitarist Tommy Church is also involved in the project. The band released their debut album Unbroken in 2017 and their second album The Indifference of Good Men in 2019.

Mushroomhead released their newest album titled A Wonderful Life back in April of this year. The band has had numerous changes in the lineup throughout the years, with drummer Skinny and vocalist J Mann (whom left in 2004 and returned in 2013) as the band’s remaining original members. Keyboardist/DJ St1tch is the only other long-time member still in the band, whom joined in 2001. The band has released a total of eight studio albums, and Waylon appeared on 2006’s Savior Sorrow, 2010’s Beautiful Stories for Ugly Children, and 2014’s The Righteous & the Butterfly before departing the band in 2015.
