IndyStar: Indiana’s Gathering of Juggalos will include performances by Morris Day, Gwar, Tech N9ne

It’s about that time where we start posting articles about this year’s Soopa Gathering of the Juggalos. The Gathering doesn’t have any public sponsorship but a lot of reporters and journalists have been showing up for the event over the years.

IndyStar.com out of Indianapolis has published an article showcasing some of this year’s biggest artists performing at The Gathering of The Juggalos.

They highlight Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Gwar, Tech N9ne, Geto Boys, C+C Music Factory, KRS-One, Gilbert Gottfried and Randy from “Trailer Park Boys,” but they seem to be most impressed with the fact that Morris Day & the Time have been billed! Which, I mean, of fucking course! Who isn’t?

The Insane Clown Posse will showcase high-profile friends when the Gathering of the Juggalos festival makes its Indiana debut this summer.

Morris Day & the Time, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Gwar, Tech N9ne, Geto Boys and C+C Music Factory will perform on the main stage — billed as the “Soopa Stage” — when the Gathering happens July 31-Aug. 3 at Lawrence County Recreational Park 12 miles south of Bloomington.

Hip-Hop pioneer KRS-One will play the Shazam Stage, and the comedy segment of the festival includes stand-up from Gilbert Gottfried and a “Randy’s Cheeseburger Picnic” variety show from “Trailer Park Boys” actor Patrick Roach.

Morris Day and the Time performed at Super Bowl Village on Georgia Street in 2012.

Fans of rap-rock duo Insane Clown Posse are known as Juggalos. Attendees — many wearing face paint of psychotic clowns in tribute to ICP members Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope — will gather at the park that usually caters to dirt bike and all-terrain vehicle enthusiasts.

Since the festival’s founding in 2000, the Gathering of the Juggalos has been staged in Michigan, Illinois, Ohio and Oklahoma.

Morris Day & the Time reached the Top 20 of Billboard magazine’s Hot 100 chart with singles “Jungle Love” and “Jerk Out.” Bone Thugs-N-Harmony topped the chart with 1996 single “Tha Crossroads.” C+C Music Factory is known for Top 10 hits “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)” and “Things That Make You Go Hmmmm …”
