Hip Hop Legend Bushwick Bill Diagnosed With Stage 4 Cancer

Bushwick Bill, a founding member of legendary Houston hip hop group Geto Boys, announced he has stage 4 pancreatic cancer Wednesday.

The 52-year-old Bushwick Bill addressed his battle with cancer in a conversation with TMZ.

According to Bushwick, doctors were keeping an eye on a tumor on his pancreas but discovered it was cancerous on Feb. 8. Now, the rapper chose it was time to let the world know about his diagnosis.

“I’ve been keeping it to myself, but I’m getting ready to tell (fellow members of the Geto Boys) Scarface and Willie D, and I’ve only told close family members and that’s about it,” Bushwick said. “I figured keeping it to myself is not really helping nobody. And it’s not like I’m afraid of dying because if anyone knows anything about me from Ever So Clear, I died and came back already on June 19, 1991, so I know what it’s like on the other side, so that’s really not what it’s about. It’s about life and loving life and being there for family.”

In 1991, Bushwick was shot in the eye when an argument with his girlfriend. He later chronicled the occurrence in his song “Ever So Clear.”

Bushwick says he’s currently working on three albums so he will be able to have something set up for his kids after his death.

Geto Boys DJ and producer DJ Ready Red died of a heart attack in August.
