The music critics from The New York Times put out an article titled “The Year in Boxed Sets, From David Bowie to Weird Al” where they selected the year’s most notable boxed set collections. David Bowie, Garth Brooks, GZA, Frank Zappa, Elvis and yes, even Weird Al’s 15 disc box set “Squeeze Box: The Complete Recordings Of Weird Al Yankovic” made the list.
Right in there longside everyone else is J & Shaggy for their masterpiece “The Great Milenko: The 20th Anniversary Edition” box set!
This is some very dope news in this ninja’s opinion because the Insane Clown Posse are getting recognition for something, and are being included in something that they normally wouldn’t be. And it’s the fucking New York Times!

It may seem odd now, but for a time in the late 1990s and early 2000s, the theatrically gory horrorcore innovator duo Insane Clown Posse was signed to a major label. “The Great Milenko,” the first album from that partnership, is a lo-fi curiosity: Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope come off like Beastie Boys starring in a Troma film. The music is intermittently great, and sometimes groan-worthy, but always fascinating. This expanded reissue includes a bonus disc of outtakes and, most importantly, a DVD of the 1997 documentary “Shockumentary,” with oodles of excellent footage of the early-days Juggalo faithful. J.C.
