10 Least Weed-Friendly Colleges in The Country

The Princeton Review’s annual rankings are in, and not only can you figure out which Universities are the best education-wise, but you can also get a comprehensive list of which schools are the best, well, reefer-wise. That’s right, the college admission service has released its rankings for both the best schools for smoking weed, as well as the WORST schools for toking up.

Today, we’re going to take a look at their list for the worst schools when it comes to weed culture, aptly titled “Don’t Inhale.” Who knows, it could appease a lot of people’s indecision when it comes to choosing a school.

10. Calvin College

Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan checks in at number 10 on the list. Considering Michigan could be one of the next states to legalize recreational weed, Calvin College was a bit of a surprise to appear on this list. Regardless, use your best discretion if you’re a regular cannabis-user and also happen to be enrolled in Calvin College.

9. City University of New York—Baruch College

NYC’s Baruch College remains one of the worst places to smoke weed. Although several New York schools managed to garner top spots on the Princeton Review‘s “Reefer Madness” list, Baruch happens to be just the opposite. Don’t expect to be a regular smoker if you decide to go to school there.

8. Wheaton College (IL)

The university based in Wheaton, Illinois came in at number eight on the list. The state of Illinois as a whole is also somewhat behind the times with cannabis-legalization, so again, no shock here. While medicinal marijuana is legal in Illinois,  lawmakers remain split on whether or not recreational weed should become legal.

7. Thomas Aquinas College

St. Thomas Aquinas College in Santa Paula, California was one of the more surprising names to appear on the list. Despite being a California-based university, it still remains one of the least weed-friendly colleges in the country.

6. College of the Ozarks

The state of Missouri itself has eased up a little bit on their punishments for weed, but they are still a little behind the eight-ball when it comes to cannabis as a whole. Medicinal cannabis is still not even legal in Missouri, so it should come as no surprise that the College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Missouri is less-than-chill about toking up.

5. United States Air Force Academy

Despite being based in Colorado, it should come as no shock the USAF Academy doesn’t fall under the umbrella of being a “weed-friendly school. ” While the university did loosen up its rules for previous marijuana users, it still doesn’t allow current students to smoke.

4. Brigham Young University (UT)

Brigham Young University is located in Provo, Utah, so again, it’s not much of a surprise that it made the list. Utah is one of the strictest states when it comes to weed, as it’s not even available for medical purposes in any capacity.

3. United States Military Academy

The United States Military Academy in West Point New York is also ultra-strict when it comes to smoking weed because, well, it’s the United States Military Academy. Clearly, there’s not much more to be said about the situation.

2. United States Naval Academy

Did you really think you can smoke pot AND be in the Navy? The Maryland-based Naval Academy is another no-brainer to make this list.

1. United States Coast Guard Academy

We sound like a broken record here, but if you thought you can get away with toking at the United States Coast Guard Academy, you thought wrong. If you haven’t noticed a theme here, military schools are clearly a no-go when it comes to smoking weed, and the prestigious New London, Connecticut institution is no exception. A clear-cut no-brainer for the top spot on the list.

Final Hit: Least Weed-Friendly Colleges in The Country

As you can see, most of the schools to make the top 10 on the list were unsurprising, to say the least. If you had any intentions of smoking up at one of these universities, well, think again. You may want to refer to the Princeton Review’s other list, “Reefer Madness,” if smoking cannabis plays a huge role in selecting a college.
