Chuck Rosenberg, the acting head of the DEA will resign at the end of the week, according to law enforcement officials, reported the New York Times. The officials said that Rosenberg has become convinced that President Donald Trump has little respect for the law.

Some might call that an understatement. But, it’s never too late to acknowledge that we have an incompetent person in the White House.

Rosenberg also knows a thing or two about law enforcement. He served twice as chief of staff to former FBI director, James Comey, who was fired by Trump in May.

Rosenberg, appointed by President Obama in 2015, has remained a close confidant of James Comey.

Reports from law officials close to Rosenberg, according to the NY Times, implied that he has grown disillusioned with Trump’s disregard for the law.

We already know that Trump has no knowledge or respect for the Constitution; a lack of respect for the rule of law can only follow.

In July, Trump outraged many when he told law enforcement officers “please don’t be too nice” when handling crime suspects, obviously encouraging police brutality, as if we don’t already have enough.

Rosenberg, to his credit, forcefully rejected Trump’s comment and sent an email to all DEA employees instructing them not to mistreat suspects.

“We must earn and keep the public trust and continue to hold ourselves to the very highest standards,” Rosenberg wrote in the internal email. “Ours is an honorable profession and, so, we will always act honorably.”

In late July, Rosenberg, told the deputy attorney general, Rod J. Rosenstein, that he did not want to be considered as the permanent administrator of the DEA.

Asked by Rosenstein whether he wanted any other job in the Justice Department, Rosenberg said no. Now, it looks like Rosenberg just wanted out. And who can blame him?
