  • Notes
    • Arizona has been faced with a geographic challenge when it comes to local talent making a name for themselves. Pokafase has the potential to blow the door wide open on Arizona hip-hop, with his upcoming debut album "MASTERMIND". The album is due out in stores nationwide, Summer 2003.

Pokafase has the kind of authoritive voice and brash tone often associated with Southern rappers, but can style a narrative, and use internal rhyming patterns, to compete with the most elite MC's on the planet. He has a chance to put the Valley in the national crosshairs with his coast to coast style, and impressive lyricism, that caters to any hip-hop fan. His deep baritone, and deliberate attention to diction, give him the gravity of a preacher. Pokafase has become a spokesman for Arizona. Now signed to Artist Direct; Pokafase has been rescently touring the nation; hitting cities like Denver, Boulder, Seattle, San Diego, Las Vegas, San Francisco, and Phoenix.

Artist Direct's roster of other rappers might also help Pokafase's cause. The label started by Interscope Records (co-founder Ted Field) and supported by Universal Music Group, has also signed veteran MC Lyte, Poverty, Smilez & Southstar, and Naam Brigade. The label has enough clout to help Pokafase attract producers from the A-list. Dr. Dre's kid brother Warren G and Roots collaborator Scott Storch have created beats for the album, which as it stands now will feature 17 songs. He also has been working with premier local producers like Fade and Iroc Beats.

"We've got some of the hardest slums. By the same token, (Phoenix) has it's Beverly Hills, if you will, in Scottsdale," Pokafase says. "On Top of that, we have the good climate, you know. All the good points, they'll be brought to life once people start to look down here and realize we're out here." Pokafase goes on to say, "The first words out of everyone's mouth is, Phoenix...... what's it like being out of Phoenix?" He later says, shrugging his shoulders "It's cool. I like the fact everybody's so curious". Clearly 'Pokafase' and his crew 'The League' are names & artists that you won't soon forget.
