New York horror metal hounds Kissing Candice just announced across Social Media that digital magazine  Electric Music Magazine just released a brand new interview with their energetic bass player/co-founder Mike Grippo! They interviewed the masked legend about a variety of topics that include Grippo’s inspirations, Hallowicked, the Kissing Candice song that best describes him, band facts that fans might not know, tattoos, advice to fans, and tons more!

Snippet of Electric Music Magazine’s Interview with Grippo Below:

Electric Music Magazine: When did you decide that a career in music was for you?

Grippo: I think it was around middle school. I was searching for the place where I belonged, and I found it in music. The people around me told me I would grow out of it, but years later when I was still as heavy into it as I was at the beginning I just figured this is it!

EMM: Who are your musical inspirations and why?

Grippo: My biggest inspiration is Trent Reznor. He is one of the few musicians who has grown musically with me in life and all of his material is something that when it comes out is music that I can relate to at the time.

EMM: Can you tell me 3 things about yourself that people might not already know?

Grippo: 1. The first 2 CD’s I bought with my own money were NIN – The Downward Spiral and Deadsy – Commencement

2. I have a bachelor’s degree in Sociology

3. When I was a child my first dream job was to sell popcorn at NASCAR races

EMM: What song of yours best describes you and why?

Grippo: Probably Recycled LIE. It is about Long Island where a few of us grew up.

EMM: What has been the best gig you have done to date and why?

Grippo: For me personally, it was probably Hallowicked, because we got to share the stage with Waka Flocka Flame… and how many people in metal bands get to say that?!? It’s a story I will tell forever.

EMM: If you could perform a gig at any venue where would it be and why?

Grippo: Red Rocks! It’s just absolutely legendary and I’m sure the view from the stage must be the most exhilarating feeling in the world.

EMM: What has been your best achievement to date and what would like to achieve in the future?

Grippo: Playing the entirety of the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival in 2015! We would love to do another large scale metal festival tour in the future!

EMM: Tell me a story from backstage or after a gig?

Grippo: I once ate the Haribo Sugar Free Gummy Bears (check out the Amazon reviews) and they made me beyond sick. I couldn’t move and all I could say was “I’m sick” as my stomach expanded and turned into a rock.

EMM: What do you like best about being a musician and why?

Grippo: The feeling of playing on stage, there’s nothing like it!

EMM: If you were not in the job you are now what would you be doing?

Grippo: Probably something in the field of marketing.

EMM: What has been the best gig you have been too as a fan and can you tell us about it?

Grippo: Nine Inch Nails at Radio City Music Hall – 2 nights. Their set list was totally different each night and included everything I could have wanted to hear, the visuals were also out of control.

EMM: What would your ideal festival line up be and why?

Grippo: Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson, Slipknot, Fear Factory, Korn. Would love to play a festival with the bands that inspired us as a band!

EMM: What would you say is the best piece of advice you have ever been given?

Grippo: To always be yourself and not let anyone change you. Never bend to be something you’re not.

EMM: What things make you happy and what things annoy you?

Grippo: Friends, family, cat videos, music, new Star Wars movies, others being happy make me happy. I am annoyed by standing in lines.

EMM: What things do you like to do when you are away from music?

Grippo: Watch movies, hang out with friends, listen to podcasts, and try to learn new skills.

EMM: Do you think social media and the internet are a good thing in the music industry?

Grippo: I think they are great things, it allows you to be a DIY band and handle things on your own without needing a huge budget.

EMM: How important do you think you look and image is when it comes to being in the music industry?

Grippo: I think it depends on the genre of music, but as far as what the actual INDUSTRY thinks I believe they think it is important.

EMM: Can you tell us about any tattoos have and the significance of them to you?

Grippo: All of us have the Kissing Candice logo tattooed on us, it’s very important as it symbolizes the brotherhood we have as a band. Then there’s a bunch of other random things without much meaning.

EMM: If you run the country for a day what would you change about it and why?

Grippo: I would place a lot more focus on the arts and music.

EMM: What would your ideal day consist of?

Grippo: Sleeping in, eating a buffalo chicken burrito, seeing old friends, going to sleep too late.

EMM: Can you tell me one thing about each member that people might not already know?

Grippo: Joey always drives the van. Pak is either sleeping, working out, eating, or playing drums. Nothing else. Dreamer is vegan. Sam was previously in Arsonists Get All The Girls and that’s how we met him.

EMM: If you could say one thing to your fans what would it be and why?

Grippo: Thank you so much for the support over the years! We are extremely grateful for what and where we have gotten and know it’s all because of the fans.

EMM: How would you answer the question….. Who are Kissing Candice and what are the differences when you guys are on stage and you away from music ?

Grippo: Kissing Candice is 5 TOTALLY different people, bonded by how weird they are that it somehow works out. We might be weirder off stage than on stage.

EMM: What would say to someone thinking about becoming a musician and getting into the music industry?

Grippo: Do your research and learn how to market yourself.

EMM: If you could collaborate with any other band/singer or musician who would you choose and why?

Grippo: Marilyn Manson, guy is a legend and I think we would make something interesting.

EMM: If you could have written one song from history which would it have been and why?

Grippo: Bohemian Rhapsody… so I could get my island.
