3 Beginner Grow Tips of the Week | May 30, 2017

Tuesday’s tips for beginner growers are brought to you by HIGH TIMES Cultivation Editor Nico Escondido.

1. A plant will more than double in size during the flower cycle. So, if you want a plant that is 3 ft tall at full maturation, trigger flowering somewhere between 16 – 18 inches tall.

2. A plant’s respiration rate corresponds to its growth rate and is temperature dependent. Every 20°F of increased temperature doubles the plant’s respiration rate. Quicker respiration of warmer roots will release more energy to the stronger, well-developed plants. Keep tabs on your soil root zone temps, which ideally should be at 76°F.

3. City water is not pure and contains high amounts of chlorine. Let water stand for day before use to evaporate added chemicals, or employ the use of a reverse osmosis (RO) filter.
